The original Halekulani began in 1907 as a residential hotel called Hau Tree owned by Robert Lewers. It consisted of a beachfront home and five bungalows. In 1917, Juliet and Clifford Kimball purchased the hotel, expanded it, established it as a stylish resort for wealthy vacationers, and named it Halekulani, which means "House Befitting Heaven."

Halekulani is a luxury 453-room resort on five prime oceanfront acres on Waikiki Beach. Five low density buildings ranging from two to 17 stories are surrounded by open courtyards and lush gardens. Guest facilities include three restaurants, three cocktail lounges, pool, spa, fitness room, business center, hospitality suite, In-house laundry and dry cleaning facility, print shop, bakery, florist, and eight meeting and banquet rooms.

The hotel is tranquil and elegant -- best not to bring kids here. Also, the pool is not kid friendly.

WEDDINGS, EVENTS & MEETINGS
Indoor meeting and banquet spaces, plus outdoor courtyards and terraces combine for a total of more than 8,800 square feet.

Ballroom - Pillarless, teak-paneled room accommodates up to 320 seated guests and up to 500 guests for receptions. Can be divided into smaller rooms: Ballroom I is 2,320 square feet, Ballroom II is 1,978 square feet. 4,300 square feet total.

Adjoining Garden Courtyard is a lush lawn, perfect for cocktail receptions and weddings for up to 650 guests. 6,400 square feet.
